NUCLEAR ENERGY ( Jorge Doporto)

Currently, electricity consumption is evolving at a rapid pace, so a consumption increases dramatically, according to some studies between 5% and 7% annually. To meet consumption, and therefore the need for new facilities in Spain can not build new nuclear power plants (no licenses are granted), or use new construction techniques, coal or fuel due to the cost of raw materials and commitment in the Kyoto Protocol. So today the increase electricity consumption is supplied by new combined cycle plants (burning natural gas), wind power and a residual other building (biomass, solar, hydro or waste).
However, this model is not sustainable. While nuclear plants have to comply with the moratorium imposed by the government (40 years of life for each nuclear power plant), plants with alternative energy sources would barely cover the gap left by them. In fact, in Spain last year were 57,539 GWh from chemical processes uranium, compared to 20,560 GWh from wind energy. Taking into account growth average 5% each year will need at least 15,000 GWH more!, today we do not have any way to get enough energy to supply our needs, then what solution do we have?, for now in my opinion the only solution we have is build new nuclear plants, I would not have to live with them, in the vicinity but we have to accept that it is a sure way to ensure electricity.
